Air Motion Systems Peak IR System
Peak IR System

Designed for Performance and Flexibility

Peak IR is designed for high-performance drying of aqueous coating at the maximum speed that your press is capable of. Recognizing that each printer’s coating and application is different, our IR/HA dryer has been made as flexible as possible while still maintaining the critical balance of heat, air and exhaust.

Quick, Tool-Free Adjustments

Infrared and hot air drying systems utilize infrared elements and hot air knife elements which have common connection ends and are interchangeable without tools in a rack type mounting assembly. The elements may be re- arranged by the user in the most advantageous order for the application. Infrared and Hot Air Elements are distributed throughout the entire length of the extension and upsweep delivery to take maximum advantage of the time and space allowed for drying.

Smart Design

All Infrared and Hot Air Elements are installed under a series of low profile Exhaust Shrouds within the extension and upsweep of the deliver. The Exhaust Shrouds remove heat and moisture from the drying area immediately above the sheet and delivering grippers and isolate the remainder of the delivery from the impact of reflected Infrared and Hot Air. Proper exhaust is one of the most critical and consistently over- looked function of IR/HA dryers.

Easy to Use Controls

User controls are automated to allow the operator maximum freedom from the operation of the dryer while providing sufficient information about its operational status and the status of the drying process to allow manual adjustment if necessary.

Technical Details

Infrared Lamp Elements
  • Lamp Elements Utilize Short Wave Infrared Lamps with internal gold reflectors. Each lamp is oriented across the sheet width.
  • Each lamp is installed in an extruded aluminum Lamp Element with an integral cooling air supply and additional aluminum reflector.
  • Lamps are cooled by a filtered air source isolated from the drying area to maximize life.
  • Lamp Elements are interchangeable with Hot Air Elements.
  • For quick cleaning and lamp changes, Lamp Elements snap into, and out of a supply port without tools.
  • Lamp output is scalable and is controlled by default with a sheet temperature sensor.
Hot Air Elements
  • Hot Air Elements are extruded aluminum profiles oriented across the sheet width directing high volume air through a slotted nozzle.
  • A common hot air source supplies tempered and filtered air to the Hot Air Elements from both ends allowing a uniform drying across the sheet width.

Peak IR System
  • Hot Air Elements are interchangeable with Infrared Elements.
  • For easy maintenance Hot Air Elements snap into and out of their supply ports without tools.
  • Hot air volume is scalable and set by the operator.
  • Hot air temperature may be set by the operator or maintained at a level optimum for the ambient conditions by the system control.
Exhaust Shrouds and Hood
  • Low profile sheet metal Exhaust Shrouds cover the Infrared and Hot Air Elements throughout the length of the extension and upsweep of the delivery to evacuate warm moist air from the drying area.
  • Shrouds also isolate the returning grippers, chain rails and the rest of the delivery and extension from hot air and reflected infrared radiation resulting in lower thermal stress on the extension and delivery.
  • The OEM supplied exhaust hood is used primarily for removal of excess coating fumes. The critical drying processes have been completed by sheet arrival at that location.

Operator Interface and Controls

User controls are automated to allow the operator maximum freedom from the operation of the dryer while providing sufficient information about its operational status and the status of the drying process to allow manual adjustment if necessary.

  • Touch screen located as requested (example: at the press control console). Combination UV and IR systems from AMS share the same control screen.
  • Screen indicates current sheet temperature and operation with simple access to sub screens for operator control.
  • Selectable automatic functioning allows the operator to establish set points for sheet temperature for consistent drying results.
  • The operator via the touch screen can control all automatic functions, such as IR element on/off or Hot Air volume manually.
  • Supply cabinets are sealed to the outside for protection from spray powder and dust contamination, and climate controlled.
  • A communications interface to the printing press is provided for exchange of press manufacturer mandated information.
